Where It Began

Odyssey Guitars was founded in 1976 with a simple mission: to build guitars that honor traditional craftsmanship while supporting the needs of modern musicians. From the beginning, every instrument was designed with tone, playability, and long-term reliability in mind.

Between 1976 and 1982 a young man without any formal training in luthiery made around 2000 mysterious, unique instruments in a small factory in Vancouver, BC. Most were identified by a small brass disc on their headstock, glimpsed onstage with some of the world's biggest bands, and then like a dream, they slipped into mist and myth and were gone, along with the tragic young genius who created them. Today, some swear that Attila Balogh's instruments are the most beautiful and best-playing electric guitars and basses that have ever been...

Craft Meets Progress

  • Rooted in Tradition

Drawing from Attlila Balogh's lutherie techniques, each Odyssey guitar is carefully crafted with attention to detail, balance, and sound. Time-tested methods ensure consistency and musical integrity across every instrument.

  • Built for Today’s Musician

Modern precision tools and refined construction methods enhance playability and performance without compromising the handcrafted character. The result is an instrument that feels familiar, responsive, and inspiring.

  • From Workshop to Stage

The 2026 Odyssey Guitars are welcoming, focused, and centered on the connection between player and instrument. These high end guitars have been created to be played...Just like the guitars of the 70s and 80s. Although if you want to hang them on your wall they look fantastic too!

  • Continuing the Journey

Today, Odyssey Guitars remains committed to thoughtful craftsmanship and meaningful design, creating instruments that support musicians at every stage of their journey.
